"It is a fabulous program because it reaches the most needy. It is directed at filling a specific need, it speaks to our belief to help in a meaningful way...to get our hands in action...and to have a direct impact on those in our immediate community."
- Ann-Phillips Mayfield, FPC member.
"Just Lunch" is a program initiated by the Mission Committee of First Presbyterian Church in 2001. The goal is to help provide a meal for those families on a fixed income and often find it difficult to meet their needs on government issued assistance. Offered on the last Saturday of each month, this meal is open to anyone; there is no charge, no program, nor any religious service associated with the event. Volunteers who host the lunch welcome our guests, help prepare and serve the meal and break bread with members of the community.
While different ministries within the congregation help coordinate each lunch, all are welcome to help out. Help is always needed and welcomed. Volunteers are needed to: Help organize a menu for anywhere from 75 to 100 plates Help shop for the supplies Help prepare and cook the meal Help serve Spend time with our guests.
If you would like to participate, please feel free to contact the chair of each month.
