September 6 - LWW (YUC Team) Commissioned in context of worship

As an extension of this worshipping community, each team is commissioned by First Church in the context of worship. This is a visible sign that while we are all called to participate in God's mission in the world, we are also called to encourage, pray for and hope that each ministry is faithful and fruitful. Therefore, the body commissions each team to go from our number to represent the church. In turn, those who remain are charged to pray for the team and to look forward to their safe return in expectation that the team will share what they learned with the entire community. All are welcome to the service and (of course) to join us in prayer for this group.

Betania

September 13-20 - LWW (YUC Team) Follow up trip and survey potential sites.

A part of the covenant with our partners in Betania, is two follow up trips. These visits help (1.) strengthen the community between the two bodies (2.) provide the opportunity to discern how we (as partners) can walk faithfully together in the future and (3.) look outward in ways that we can build a network, extending the ministry beyond the partner community. This trip will be our first (of two) follow up trips and (while we are there) will provide an opportunity to survey a few more potential sites for more covenant relationship that can work to build up the network. All are welcome to this great opportunity to learn more about what God is doing in Betania and what we are called to be a part of in that future partnership! We will need volunteers for the following:

  • -Meet our partners in Betania and become familiar with the Living Waters ministry through hands-on experience.
  • -Think about ways that the water currently cleaned can reach more people.
  • -Meet and help survey potential sites.

September 27 - Minute for Mission - YUC Team

In an effort to share the Good News, each team will engage in "reverse mission" testifying to the ways that God is at work in the world and presenting the opportunities that we have to join in that work. Reverse mission is a vital element of God's mission as it continues to witness to the Good News that, "we are all one in Christ Jesus."
