"Then the king will say to those at his right hand, 'Come, you that are blessed by my Father, inherit the kingdom prepared for you from the foundation of the world; for I was hungry and you gave me food, I was thirsty and you gave me something to drink, I was a stranger and you welcomed me"

- Matthew 25:34-35

FPC Apartments WelcomingLocated to the north of First Church, the First Presbyterian Church Apartments encompass two historic buildings built in the mid 1800s. After years of ... the apartments were sold to First Church with the hope of creating a ministry that meets the needs specific to it's own context.

With the help and guidance of Elder Holly B. Wiedemann (also the President and Owner of AU Associates) the Church was able to secure various state and federal tax credits for historic preservation so that the apartments would be preserved, while providing urban redevelopment to Lexington's downtown. In the end, the FPC Apartments provide affordable housing to residents on fixed income, renting from $300 to $600 a month.

The original apartment units have been carefully and expertly renovated to include all modern systems and amenities.  The apartments feature hardwood floors, large windows, spacious closets, individually controlled thermostats, and FPC Apartment Interiorfully equipped kitchens. There are 10 gracious apartments in total with 1 studio, 2 one-bedroom units and 7 two-bedroom units.  All homes located in the Colonial building are fully accessible with a new elevator that serves all levels.  A Community Library located in one of the buildings will serve all residents.

First Presbyterian Church Apartments was dedicated on July 23, 2009 and an open house was held for the public to tour the apartments. To read Tom Eblen's article in the Lexington Herald Leader, click the following link below.
