Faith and the Arts Program Series 2007-2008
First Church offers myriad opportunities for you to "Discover the Spirit of Creativity!" With our Faith & The Arts series of programs, you can explore religion, faith and God through the visual arts and music events.
The Worship and Arts Ministry Team is very pleased to announce our Faith and Arts program series for 2007-2008.

LexArts' Gallery Hop
Our Gallery will once again participate in the LexArts' Gallery Hop. Our season of exhibits will be:
September - October First Church members share their creative spirit through the display of art work, photography and other visual art media. Free. Members, please mail your exhibit application to Marlon Hurst, 171 Market St, Lexington, KY 40507.
November- December Mentoring - exploring the creative process through the works of teachers and students from the Artists' Attic.
January - February
Artwork from the children's books by author, George Ella Lyon
March - April
Artwork from students participating in the University of Kentucky's Donovan Scholars Program will be on display. We will be an auxiliary gallery to the main exhibit located at Art at the Cathedral.
April - May

CONCERTS
February 29, 7:30 p.m.
Lexington Philharmonic principal trumpet Jonathan Martin will join with soprano Catherine Clarke to present a concert of classical music, including works by Handel, Scarlatti, Hovhanness and others. (Downloadable poster here: Martin-Clarke poster)

March 4, 7:30 p.m.
The Lafayette High School choir will present Leonard Bernstein's Chichester Psalms.
April 19, 8:00 p.m.
The Lexington Chamber Chorale, under the direction of Dr. Gary Anderson, will present their spring concert entitled "Revel in the Spring". Tickets: general admission, available at the Downtown Arts Center Box Office, 141 East Main Street, (859) 225-0370.
Organ Recital series
All recitals to be played on the Sanctuary pipe organ built by the W.W. Kimball company ni 1897 and rebuilt by John-Paul Buzard in 2007. Except where noted, all recitals are free and at 3:00 p.m.
September 23: Tina Wagoner, Organist, First Presbyterian Church, Lexington
October 28: Clif Cason, Organist, Maxwell Street Presbyterian Church, Lexington
November 11: Schuyler Robinson, Professor of Organ and Sacred Music, University of Kentucky, Lexington February 24: William "Jeff" Jones,Organist, The Prebyterian Church, Danville, KY April 11, 7:30 p.m.: David Briggs, Organist Emeritus, Gloucester Cathedral, Gloucester, England. David will perform a concert of orchestral transcriptions for the organ.

September 30, 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - American Spiritual Ensemble to lead in worship
December 2, 5:00 p.m. - Festival of Lights and Hanging of the Greens service, featuring all FPC choirs.
December 16, 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - Magnificat by Jonathan Willcocks, featuring the FPC Chancel Choir, soprano Alysha Graves and brass/percussion ensemble.
March 20, 7:00 p.m. - A Service of Darkness featuring the Chancel Choir and soloists, combining the liturgies of Maundy Thursday and Good Friday.
May 18, 8:45 a.m. and 11:00 a.m. - Trinity Sunday: Festive Choral Morningsong featuring the Te Deum and Benedictus by Edward Elgar, Chancel Choir and organ.
